Minister’s Message

Welcome to the Congregational Church in Cumberland, United Church of Christ!

We are so glad you have found your way here.   We are a diverse community of many ages and backgrounds seeking to welcome all and put love in action as we discover God’s hope in God’s beautiful world.   We are an open and affirming church with our LGBTQ family.   We seek to follow the way and path of Jesus Christ who invites us to love our neighbors and love God. 

If you have questions and are not sure what you believe, if you are exploring your spirituality, seeking community, or wanting to make a difference, this is a place where you are absolutely welcome and where you can find blessing on your journey. 

I’d like to invite you to join us at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings for worship and a vibrant Church School for children and youth.  You will find music that speaks deeply, space for prayer, a welcoming community, a place for young people to grow in faith, and inspiration to courageously live out the “Beloved Community” of justice, peace, and hope for all God’s children and the creation.   You can also plug in, helping us serve our neighbors through the Cumberland Woodbank, the Food Pantry, Preble Street, Family Promise, by welcoming new Mainers, and through our Social Justice and Green Teams--just to name a few!  Or feel free to come to an event or concert or try a small group meeting as a way to explore and meet others on a spiritual journey.
